Willow and Xander immediately take to Joyce’s new paramour, but Buffy isn’t so sure. As each encounter with him sets her more on edge, Buffy vows to get to the bottom of Ted’s toxic politeness. That is, until he pushes her over the edge, and Buffy unleashes the power of the Slayer on a mortal.

It’s Career Week at Sunnydale High, and everyone is excited—except Buffy, because as the Slayer her destiny will forever be unemployment and death. To make things worse, Spike has decided to send the Order of Taraka after Buffy. He wants to keep her out of the picture long enough to finish deciphering a spell that will rejuvenate Drusilla. But nothing goes quite the way anyone expects, and Buffy is left with more questions than answers.

But she has the unfortunate habit of sucking the souls from innocent people. Buffy and the gang race to find the mummy who’s right under their noses. Meanwhile, Willow struggles to set aside her unrequited feelings for Xander even as she attracts the attention of a laid-back musician.
